Came into a brand new one still in it's original box for pennies on the dollar.
It runs very well. I think it's quite appropiate for a young sewer as it just has ONE speed(at least that's all mine has). There is NO light on it, but a lamp on the table works well. There is no off/on switch. You step on the petal, it goes, you take your foot off, it stops. Its has a nice selection of stitch lengths and widths, and a set-able zigzag. The level on the front(lower right) is the reverse...very simple to operate. It threads easily, and the bobbins hold quite a bit...a bit trickier to wind than my Pfaff, but they insert easily and mine came with 4 bobbins.
My only negative comment would be that it's quite a bit nosier than my other machines, but you get used to that...LOL
It weighs less than 5 pounds, and slips nicely into a regular backpack or totebag...a great little machine.
Hope that helps ease your mind. I think she'll love it, and personally for the $$$'s I think it's a better choice than the inexpensive ones at WalMart. Janome also makes the Brothers machines. I only recently learned that last part.
It's not a Featherweight, but it's a good little machine for a young sewer.Hugs, FinnFinnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17677133672404343036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-769281924305795710.post-79882383730774881722007-11-24T09:34:00.000-08:002007-11-24T09:34:00.000-08:00How cute!!
